About Me

My name is Dori Kaplan and I am the founder of Styled By Sunshine PDX, an inclusive personal styling service for everybody! I have a specialty background in working with LGBTQ, queer, trans, disabled, plus-size, and neurodivergent folks.

Hi, I’m Dori (they/them) and I am the founder of Styled By Sunshine PDX in Portland OR! I believe that fashion has the power to change people’s lives and perceptions of themselves. After going through my own life-altering fashion transformation, I decided that I wanted to use my experiences to help other people be their most authentic selves.

Until my personal fashion journey, I desperately wanted to prove that I was “normal.” My clothes served as nothing more than masks for me to hide behind. Eventually, I stopped caring about fitting in in and started wearing the clothes I had always secretly wanted to wear. Suddenly, I was the happiest and most comfortable with myself that I’d ever been, and I discovered that the people around me actually preferred the true me!

I quickly decided I wanted to use my experiences to help other people express themselves and find joy through fashion, so I started my business as a personal stylist.
